From 25 november
to 13 dicember 2021
DRAG ME UP – Queer Arts Festival is the winner of the “Contemporaneamente Roma 2020 – 2021 – 2022” public competition.
DRAG ME UP – Queer Arts Festival started from an idea by ONDADURTO TEATRO, which is responsible for the artistic direction of the project, in collaboration with DRAG QUEENS HoliDolores and the duo Karma B.
DRAG ME UP is an artistic platform that addresses gender issues through the lens of the “subculture” of drag.
Conceived as an international network for the contemporary arts and LGBTIQ+ activism, it is a true showcase that represents all gender expressions, enhancing the performers’ features through costumes, make-up and hairstyles, in a combination of tongue-in-cheek comedy and socio-cultural activism.
DRAG ME UP is a moment of reflection on social issues related to inclusion and an international festival of multidisciplinary QUEER Performing Art.
The project blurs the line between contemporary artistic modes of expression and comes to the fore in the boundaries between art and life. A creative programme of events that is sure to relate to a wide range of human contexts.
This is a multi-year project, the second edition of which will be launched in 2021: FROM 25 NOVEMBER TO 13 DECEMBER.
THE THEME OF THE SECOND EDITION OF DRAG ME UP IS: #NOSTEREOTYPES: gender stereotypes and representation in the media
